Tongariro Crossing Lodge was a great place to stay for our family (parents, 2 adult daughters). Our main purpose was to do the Tongariro Alpine Crossing the next day. However, after consulting with Louis (owner) and looking at the predicted cloud cover, we opted to delay the hike an extra day Louis kindly suggested alternative shorter hikes/activities near by, which were very enjoyable. Louis had also reserved spots for us on the shuttle (to/from hike) but upon our arrival and discussion, we decided to drive ourselves to the carpark which ended up being a good idea since the day we hiked was extremely cloudy, not clearing up until about 1pm. Driving ourselves allowed us to be flexible and enjoy the stunning views for another hour instead of rushing back to make the 5:30pm shuttle. In addition to the room (ours was newly renovated), you could also pay for a continental breakfast and sack lunch which Louis brought to our room the night before the hike. Very convenient and yummy!! Lodge was also within walking distance of restaurants (two that we ate at had great views of mountains, sunset) and small store. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay - perfect for us :). Louis was also very responsive prior to our trip, answering my many questions.

Alpine Chalets se nachází v destinaci National Park a nabízí bezplatné Wi-Fi, zahradu s terasou a výhled na hory. Mount Ruapehu se nachází 15 km daleko a Taranaki Falls 16 km. Perfect location within the National Park, best view of the volcanos (weather dependent) and a very, very kind host.

I loved the view very quiet place it was great. However there was no milk or tea in placed usually other places they put chamomile or something like that ❤️ apart from it everything was great.

I found it an amazing property! It's like a little house. I very much enjoyed the stay. The covered deck and the bush were really good.

Kings Ohakune se nachází 2 minuty chůze od nádraží Ohakune a 3 minuty chůze od začátku horské silnice Ohakune. Nabízí úžasný výhled na horu Mt Ruapehu, 2 vířivky a restauraci s velkou terasou. Great place to be. Atmospheric bar. V good beer and food
