Comfortable bed in a clean apartment. Quiet location, but great view. Lots of facilities for children at all ages. Appr 10 minutes + to walk to the beach, with the most amazing sunset and a nice ice cream shop. Tea and coffee available in apartment. Could by breakfast at the hotel buffet.

Everything! The hotel was amazing, great food with lots of options, brilliant staff, good entertainment, very clean, good sized rooms.

I just love the location of Dunas Beach resort and spa apartment. You can get all the facilities from Melia Dunas by only renting the apartment, minus the food . You have the luxury to either pay extra if you want to go all inclusive or to go out for meals, which is great,as if is a lot of variety in Santa Maria - that is 30 min walk from the apartment. Although I would say I definitely like more this area where the apartment is , as the beach here is cleanest , is not that crowded, if you want to party here you still have Bikini Beach club 10-15 min walk away or another terrace on the beach very close by. The owner Patricia is amazing, she is very helpful, she will provide you with all the information you need if you want to explore, she is very reliable concerning the check in and out , the apartment is really nice and big, I was by myself but could easily accomodate 4 adults. The kitchen is equipped with everything that you would need if you decide to cook dinner and stay in. All in one, a lovely holiday made possible by choosing this apartment, I was very inspired when picking it.

Very nice apartment, clean and with everything you need. The host is very friendly. You can walk 6 min to beach, 10 min to downtown. Santa Maria beach is wonderful.

The villa accommodation and the resort is superior. Everything as described. Andrew is really helpful, and there's also help on site (called Nelson when we were there). The villa had just been renovated, with a new gas BBQ on the terrace, and ideally situated within easy reach of the beach and amenities. Many places accept local CVE currency, Euros, and credit cards.

When searching, I paid only about 50 Euro more for this property than my second choice and it was completely worth it. First, the hosts, especially Nadine, was extremely professional and very responsive. The room is great and the location is steps to the first pool or reception in the other direction. The amenities are great with 5 pools (I tried all pools and actually preferred the one by the apartment) and lots of animation. Also because I was not on the all inclusive plan - you can pay more if you want it - but for me it was cheaper and better. The drinks were cheap at the pool bars (3 EUR for a caipirinha) and I ate often in Santa Maria (taxi is 4-5 EUR) at places locals suggested (e.g., Augusto, Cham, Cafe Criolo, Santa Grelha - and there are many more that I didn't get to, just ask the taxi drivers, they know where to go and I saw some of them eating at those places), and bought fish a few times at the Santa Maria pier (go around 10am and they can clean and/or filet how you want - very good prices) to make at the apartment. Fyi, good shops in Santa Maria are Cazu (locally owned) and if they don't have it, check out Huang close by or Tentudo. Despite expecting that there are usually insects on an island (which I am used to anyway from traveling) there were almost none on the property and rarely at night (just keep the apartment clean). The weather was perfect end of November, hot but not too hot, little humidity, light breeze. I travelled alone this time but will hopefully return with the kids. They would love it here.
