    “If you want to experience a traditional Japanese ryokan then this is an ideal choice. The meals are excellent and a great effort is made to give you an authentic experience. The private Onsens are amazing after a day of hiking. The interior is very authentic Japanese style which gave a great experience for us. Traditional clothes are provided for you to wear to dinner and around the hotel if you want to.”

    “Soy Guesthouse was one of the best places we stayed on our honeymoon. The house is beautiful and has a really special atmosphere, with jazz playing in the communal room and a cat sleeping on a chair, and we loved staying in a traditional tatami mat room and having the amazing breakfast looking over the garden. Tai is a fantastic host - picking us from the station and dropping us back into town to explore, booking us dinner in advance as it was the tail end of Golden Week and answering any questions we had. Thank you to the whole family!”

The staff were all very friendly and able to deal with all our inquiries, including being able to store our luggage and then assist with using a luggage transport service.”

    “The hotel is modern but with a traditional Japanese style. The rooms are Japanese style, so there is no real bed but the mattress is on a platform. It is located in the hearth of Takayama old city centre at walking distance from all attractions. It has a private parking which is very convenient if you are coming by car. The hotel offers free drinks during the evening, which is very nice. I could taste three different local sakes.”
