Perfect place for a one/two day retreat and halfway point between the bustle of Osaka, Kyoto or even Nara. Conveniently located next to the tram station, Hozanji temple and if you are able to stay 2 nights, a good place to settle for a day trip to Nara before leaving for your next destination. Amazing views, amazing service, amazing location. Must try breakfast. For an evening I would recommend shopping around Ikoma station, have a nice dinner, ride up the tram, walk up the lantern-lit pathways up the Hozan-ji temple complex, and just take in the sheer beauty and serenity of the temple at night, as well as the views overlooking the cities below. I think it will take a while for me to experience something else as breathtaking as this ever again.

Great location, less then 5min walk to Nara Park. Staff were very friendly and took great care of us during our stay. They have an open rooftop for sunset views and a private Onsen onsite. Upon check out we received a printed photo that we took upon arrival, great way to remember our stay here.

We were pleasantly surprised by the meals provided at the Ryokan. Meals were beautifully prepared. We didn't get to experience the bath but we hope to next time. Very clean, comfortable, and accommodating. The staff were all so kind.

Amazing Japanese food, impeccable service (attentive yet non intrusive) , quiet location lovely peaceful views. The temple, turn right outside the door and walk for 10 mins was incredible, virtually no one there and more impressive than the tourist traps in Kyoto (fushimi inari) amazing mountain view. The location is amazing. 10 minute taxi from Oji station. Can't recommend highly enough. The onsen was lovely.
