Traditional ryokan – it was a great experience to stay in a classic Japanese-style hotel in Tokyo. The staff was wonderful and spoke English very well. The room was small, but that’s exactly what we expected, so it wasn’t an issue.

From the welcome to the goodbye, the staff was wonderful. We loved the beautifully designed, more traditional environment, as well as the boutique experience and personal feel. The dinner experience was truly exceptional, and we also enjoyed the Japanese-style breakfast (we just tried thinking of it as “lunch” and that we would get “breakfast” later). We reserved/used the onsen in the morning before breakfast and were glad we had the chance to try it. Overall a fantastic and memorable experience.

We loved EVERYTHING about our stay. We can’t thank the host enough for ALL her help and dedication to make our stay nothing but amazing!!! The location couldn’t be more perfect. To get to the main spots in Asakusa it was just a short walk which happened to be a fun leisure adventure across the bridge, which helped us enjoy the culture Asakusa had to offer.
We’re a family of 4 so having the extra bathrooms and bed space for everyone was really nice. There’s even an elevator from the first floor to send your luggage to each room so you don’t have to carry it up the steps. The balcony was peaceful and a nice place to decompress at the end of the day. All toiletries imaginable were provided. Vending machines super close by and lawson and 711 just around the corner. Hubby and I snuck away to a cute little bar called Gossip near by we really enjoyed too. We’re from Alaska and planned this trip for years. I couldn’t have been more happy with our stay and the hosts commitment to making sure everything was just right.. If we ever make it back we’ll for sure be staying here again. Thanks for everything really appreciate it

- the public bath on the rooftop and sauna was nice!
- the vibe in the room is immaculate. The tatami is comfortable and clean, the ceilings are low (my bf of 6ft hit his head on the beam a few times, that’s how authentic this is)
- the staff keeps the tatami clean and is diligent about changing our futon sheets daily
- they change out the yukata daily, too
- breakfast is simple and nice. It’s what I expect to eat if I do a homestay with a Japanese grandma.
Friendly respectful staff.
Onsen traditions in the city.
Fabulous restaurant serving formal set breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Tatami in all rooms.
Zen vibes through the whole hotel.
City views exceptional.
Entrance and foyer reminiscent of mountain ryokans.
Roof top onsen baths looking over the city below.
We loved our room! Authentic Japanese experience. Breakfast was delicious and wholesome. Futons were comfy. Room was always cleaned immaculately. The rooms have real tatami mat floors (not plastic like in other hotels). The onsen was nice and relaxing.
Old japanese ryokan tatami floors/futon beds hotel in the heart of one of the most insane pulsing red light districts of the world? Im totally here for it!
Location is perfect for Shinkuju/Kabukicho nights (~12min walk from the station, Godzilla and KingKong just behind the corner). It was really unexchangeable experience, for VERY good money, taking into consideration the exquisite location
We stayed one night at this hotel in a family room due to an early morning flight. The family room was well set-up, with a tatami area where the futons were rolled up until we needed them. There are also 2 twin beds. The hotel is connected to Terminal 3 and a shopping center, so finding dinner was not a problem.
The highlight was the Japanese onsen with 5 indoor pools and 3 outdoor pools. It was a nice soak before the long flight to finish our holiday.
Perfect traditional hotel. For an affordable price, you get a bath, an onsen, a tatami floor, and futon beds. The hotel itself is not heated but you can heat your room. There was no breakfast but there is a conbini right near the hotel. On the first floor, there is a microwave and a water cooker. We loved this hotel.
Lovely ryokan in a great area of Tokyo.
Warm-hearted welcome and lovely people.
Delicious Japanese breakfast.
Extremely comfortable beds!
If you are looking for a Japanese style accommodation (ryokan with futon beds and tatami floored room) in Tokyo, Ito Ryokan is perfect!
The ryokan is centrally located in Ueno and convenient for the University of Tokyo. It's a ryokan, so you get a low futon and tatami mats on the floor. They also provide you with a yukata to wear indoors. The owners are lovely, and arranged a late check-in for me without any difficulty. It is excellent value for the price.
Stylish and welcoming Ryokan, in a quieter part of Tokyo, yet 5 minutes walk to the metro stop. Rooms are tiny but well equipped, tatami mats with very comfortable futons. Shared bathrooms are good. Jacuzzi is a great bonus. And breakfast excellent, as is the coffee.
