Upon arrival head directly outside and grab one of the free shuttles buses that will drop you off at your ryokan. We stayed at Morizuya. His family has been running a ryokan for over a hundred years! At 3pm check-in you will be given yakuta (a summer kimono) to borrow for your stay. The staff will help dress you, and then you will be offered a free photoshoot in front of the inn. The inn owner saw me take a lot of photos of my daughter and offered to take more of us along the river and on the nearby bridge. We set off to explore some of the town onsens. Note that one of them tends to be closed daily, so if your aim is to visit all ask him which ones are closed which days of your stay. Carry your stamp book, because each onsen has their own stamp. Morizuya also has their own stamp! In between onsens we enjoyed so much fantastic food. We paid for breakfast which was an amazing experience. Breakfast was different both days. We opted not to pay for full-board; I feared my child was unlikely to eat a full omakase dinner. Instead we went to the yakiniku and had the most amazing tajima beef. It put the rest of the beef on our trip in Japan to shame. I wish we had discovered the place earlier and eaten there both nights.

As Europeans, it takes some time to get used to the onsen concept. Not the bathing itself, but the fact that the entire place is essentially dedicated to bathing. The place — as well as the hotel — will always remain in our fond memories. The staff is friendly, the rooms clean and the onsen authentically integrated in your stay.

The staff was extremely attentive to our needs. They were accommodating with our dietary preferences and even had a car bring us to the station for our train. The food was excellent. There was also English speaking staff, which made it accommodating for tourists like us. We tried all three of their private onsen baths and loved them all (especially the Kirara bath). Maya was our go-to gal and she did a superb job of bringing us our food, managing the room, and providing us information about the food whenever we were curious. An extra bonus, the toilet lights up and greets you up on entry into the bathroom, playing a nice morning tune while you use it

OMG we felt like royalty here! Walking through the ryokan we were picking our jaws off the floor - the room was stunning, yukatas included in the room were so comfortable, the hotel’s onsen is fantastic - you won’t want to leave the place! And then the food… we absolutely recommend going half board - breakfast and dinner were out of this world, we were stuffed every day. And our waitress was the sweetest person we ever met, very attentive, communicating via translating app. Shuttle service was available whenever we wanted to go into town and pickup was very fast as well. Easily the highlight of our Japan trip!

Meals: Incredible dining with fresh, local, seasonal ingredients. Meals of the highest caliber.
Service: Friendly, prompt, courteous service at every single step and every single inquiry. Everyone I met was kind and helpful. In addition, they offer extra services, such as a free shuttle to and from the station, and an affordable in-room massage to elevate your experience further. For women, female staff will also help you dress in your yukata with obi. Everyone is very professional.
Room: Comfortable, clean, and beautiful. Modern toilet, with great heat and water pressure from the shower. The futons were very soft and easy to sleep on. The hotel itself is full of beauty, from the garden to the museum. The onsen was nice and hot. The hotel is like being in another world.
Location: Very proximal to many points of cultural interest. Most of the cultural aspects (Onsenji, sacred onsens, river stroll), are accessible all day. There are unlimited dining and shopping options nearby. The locals are also very kind.
Amenities: Everything you could ever need was provided. Yukata, geta, sandals, onsen pass, face care, hair care, toiletries. Bike and helmet rental was easy and free, but do plan to reserve ahead as they only have so many bicycles.

Beautiful place to stay and easy walk from the station. We arrived early and staff were accommodating by holding our bags for us until check in time. Check in was seamless for English speakers. Our bags were in our rooms ready for us. A lovely lady came to our rooms and delivered our Yakata and pot of tea. We only booked breakfast and we were given 2 times to choose from and as we were a group we ate in the dining room. Food was delicious. Would highly recommend this hotel.

The property was beautiful with breathtaking views. The amenities offered really made it feel like a luxurious stay and both the shared and private onsens were amazing. Staff went above and beyond to make you feel welcome and cared for. The free shuttle bus also made it extremely convenient when arriving/leaving the hotel.
Experience culture authentically with a stay at this traditional Japanese-style accommodation. Sleep on the floor (on a futon roll) in a room furnished with tatami flooring and sliding doors. Guests can often expect access to a communal bath plus a complimentary Japanese garment called a yukata.

very good value! authentic ryokan experience for a relatively cheap buck:)) came with a day pass which let us use all the onsens while we were there🤍 lady working there doesnt speak a lot of English but this never posed a problem as she was very accomodating and sweet. room was clean, beds were tidy and comfy. room came with yukatas that you can wear while doing ur onsen-hopping🤍🤍 wooden shoes (getas) are also available for free:)) air conditioning was also really nice, we went there during summer
For our first time in a ryokan it was a great surprise and experience. The room was the good size for 4 people and we enjoyed the balcony with the view to the town's main street and the river. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and takes great care to explain the different activities to do in the ryokan and in the town. We had an amazing time using our yukatas and hopping from one onsen to another, and we also very happy with the meals that were prepared at the ryokan - the dinner was definitely the best we had in all our stay.
Beautiful Ryokan style hotel. Lovely room and a very hot private bath. Had an amazing time in Kinosaki Onsen. Everything is on the main street really and they provide you with yukata and sandals to go out in. Byo tabi socks!
State of the art hospitality and professional service from the staff! The traditional Japanese ryokan style room was truly stunning and a pleasure to experience. Yukata set is also provided by the hotel which can be used while exploring the Onsen Town.
The Best Ryokan I have ever been !
Very well located.
The staff is super friendly, the "room book" in english is very well done and personnal.
The 3 onsen at floor 1 are so great !
The futon was really confortable, especialy the comfy blanket !
10/10 for the whole stay !
Wonderful Ryokan experience in Kinosaki Onsen. The Japanese breakfasts and suppers were both awesome. The Ryokan provides yukatas in which you can walk around town to the onsens - really great!
The rental yukatas and hantens were the most stylish and unique compared to what guests at other ryokans were wearing.
Location is excellent, close to train station and main street and onsens.
Staff gave us an onsen pass for the 7 onsens in town. We also got a private booking at the bath in house. Staff provided an orientation to town and also provided excellent hospitality, including amazing food service.
Rooms were traditional and a little old but comfortable and the bathroom had a Toto.
Lovely authentic ryokan in hot spring town. The owner is very welcoming and hospitable. The ryokan is comfortable for a big family and the private onsen is great. Perfectly located in the centre of town to walk to all the public onsens with one being next door. Meals were huge and well prepared. Staff very friendly and helpful, especially for helping with yakata and kimono dressing. A must place to visit, we will definitely be coming back here to stay again.
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and spoke good English. Dinner and breakfast was served in our room and each item described to us as they were laid out. Our futons were laid out and packed away by staff. The whole ryokan was kept immaculate and we heard no noise at all. Geta, yukata, umbrellas and baskets were provided for going to and from onsens. An onsen pass was also provided from check in to 3pm on the day of check out. We were allowed to keep our towels until this point and our luggage was held after check out.
It’s a stunning traditional style Ryokan with tatami floors in the bedrooms. Having the option to have a bed or a futon is nice, although I think a futon is actually comfier! Only 2 minutes from the train station and a stones throw from great coffee shops, restaurants and supermarkets. They allow you to book the private onsen for just under an hour, which allows mixed sex couples to enjoy it together, unlike the public onsens.
