A ryokan which still upholds the tradition of Japanese hospitality. Even I booked only a single room, I was surprised to find my tatami room so spacious with balcony opens to a beautiful koi pond. I was treated with a famous local biscuit as welcome gift. The breakfast was the tastiest and most eye-pleasing meal I had in my entire 2 weeks-trip. The clam soup was so fresh. The host helped to call the previous hotel I stayed because I left my adaptor & mobile charger there. He was kind to also let me use his charger that night. The room was warm in chilly autumn night and I had a good sleep after soaking in hot bath. It was rainy when I arrived and left the ryokan but because of the hospitality I received, I wished I could have stayed there for another night or 2.

Exceptional service from the minute our car arrived at the hotel entrance. The level of service here sets a new benchmark for our future Japanese stay (which has always been highly positive). Tranquil ambiance, impeccable cleanliness, Japanese garden, indoor and outdoor onsen, tatami flooring throughout, spacious room with beautiful view of Shogawa, free flow of coffee and drinks and a shop selling local arisanal products at reasonable prices . We tried a few local products and were blown away. Especially love the chocolate from Patisserie Vert and the folded mugwort mochi with red bean paste filling. The staff recommended 2 restaurants , 5 minutes walk away for highly rated local Ayu fish meals. Lots of blooming June flowers everywhere. Perfect location. Only 15 mins drive to see the beautiful Shogawa Gorge and around 15 mins to Tonami City for shopping.

In this ever changing, chaotic and even crazy world, I admire a well-run family business (small or large) which passes on from generation to generation, like the Tanakaya (since 1911). My wife and I have one of the five larger rooms with superb views of the Japanese garden with architectural and water features (charming with the new snow cover). The included Kaiseki dinner (delicious, sumptuous, but not too elaborate or overly filling) and breakfast are served not in our room but in a separate and private dinner room, which we like. The clear-water onsen is not huge and indoor only, but has full glass panels facing a small bamboo grove in the garden. Old-fashioned warm and attentive service attitudes prevailed. A mature lady of the 4th generation greeted us when we arrived, another of the 5th generation briefed us, and a third lady was assigned to take us to our room, serve us dinner and breakfast and prepare our beddings. All three of them waited for us when we checked out, and followed our small shuttle bus as it drove out to the parking lot and onto the road to wave us goodbye despite the snow and cold weather. We saw members of the 6th generation chatting and playing in the lounge just before dinner the evening before, while we were viewing the manuscripts and books of a poet (also a member of the family) in a display room near the reception, I wish the traditions of excellence and service of this small ryokan (and many others) will continue to be passed on to the next generations.

Στο Akaokan, οι επισκέπτες μπορούν να χαλαρώσουν στα ευρύχωρα δημόσια ιαματικά λουτρά και να επισκεφθούν τα ιστορικά χωριά Shirakawa-gō και Gokayama, που αποτελούν Μνημείο Παγκόσμιας Πολιτιστικής... The Japanese style room was amazing. Very spacious and comfortable. The dinner was a lot, quite filling and very delicious local dishes. The staff were also very accommodating of our requests.

Το Gokasanso βρίσκεται στην περιοχή ιαματικών πηγών Gokayama και προσφέρει καταλύματα ιαπωνικού και δυτικού στιλ με τηλεόραση επίπεδης οθόνης. Nice service, and they have hot spring also. If you stay in gokayama, I recommend you should have dinner in booked hotel, becuz there is no restaurant open until 3pm...

Το Kadokyu Ryokan παρέχει δωμάτια με κλιματισμό και κοινόχρηστο μπάνιο σε Takaoka, σε απόσταση 48 χλμ και 48 χλμ από τα σημεία ενδιαφέροντος Κάστρο Kanazawa και Κήπος Kenrokuen, αντίστοιχα. I found to rooms clean and comfortable, the location, next to the giant Buddha, extremely convenient, and the staff friendly and accommodating.
